Talos
Far Out Dust
Album Review

Happy Valentines day everyone! Ive been a lot busier recently and have been sitting on some new music for a while. But I thought a day such as this one would be a fantastic opportunity to talk about this wondrous pop masterpiece.

The second full length album from the musical artist known as Talos and acts as my gateway into their discography. The artwork of this album at first glance suggested to me that this would be some sort of abstract, subliminal sound. What I got instead was something a lot more constructed and well composed and really came as a pleasant surprise.

Combining a primarily ambient and somewhat melancholy sound with vocals that kinda reminded me of Matthew Healey of The 1975, the result is a brilliantly bright and gorgeous gallery of half love-songs, half musical art.

to me, this album displays two main styles in its list of tracks, in which it is either slow-paced, piano laced songs that really max out the ambient or more of an upbeat, almost feel good electro-pop tracks that could be compared even further to The 1975. If you compare a song like "To Each His Own" with "In The Fold", you can easily see the differences in the two styles I previously mentioned.

This is definitely one of the first albums of 2019 in which I can appreciate the album as a whole. However, there are plenty of tracks which make for great individual singles. The tracks I personally love on this album include "The Light Upon Us", "To Each His Own", "See Me", "The Flood", "Let Go", "In The Fold" and my reigning favourite "2AM".

In conclusion, this album is the kind that gives you that warm feeling inside. I love all the different kinds of moods it creates and I might even go as far to say that this could be my favourite album of 2019 so far. Definitely go listen to it.

Thank you for reading.
