BROCKHAMPTON, GINGER, Album Review

BROCKHAMPTON GINGER Album Review Listen on Spotify Listen on Apple Music The worlds greatest boy-band is back, and continuing their tradition of releasing at least one project every year with their newest album GINGER . The ever-productive nature of BROCKHAMPTON was made evident by the swift release of this new album. Each of the teaser tracks came in the weeks before the full albums release, and almost felt the small leaks that appear in a dam before the whole thing falls apart. In other words, the transition between the albums announcement and its release was very spontaneous. With the teaser tracks that we got, it seemed like BROCKHAMPTON were possibly making an aesthetic return to the style that was found in their SATURATION trilogy which arguably put the group on the map, which I was very happy with. To add a little more context, BROCKHAMPTON's previous project iridescence  was released almost a full year ago now, and this album didn't feel nearl

Ho99o9, Cyber Warfare, Album Review

Ho99o9 Cyber Warfare Album Review Listen on Spotify Listen on Apple Music The triple 9 death cult are back again with their newest album Cyber Warfare , which appears to be a spiritual sequel to their previous EP, released towards the end of 2018, Cyber Cop . While this band is one of my favourites to come out of this decade for their unique and near perfect blend of hardcore punk and hip-hop elements, I wasn't ecstatic about their previous effort, which purposefully had an aesthetic which made it sound like an illegally downloaded album with a lower, almost muffled sound quality and the tagline "Unauthorized MP3". While this album does slightly follow suit, there are still quite a few improvements. For one, its a full album this time around rather than an EP. Ho99o9 have also seemed to be a bit more conservative with the lower sound quality aesthetic, making sure that the majority of tracks are audible in a satisfactory fashion. And lastly, t

Friendly Fires, Inflorescent, Album Review

Friendly Fires Inflorescent Album Review Listen on Spotify Listen on Apple Music Friendly Fires have been a band that me and my friends have been enjoying for a fair while now. It wasn't until Truck Festival this year that my friend blasted on their single of last year "Love Like Waves", but ironically, it was last year that Friendly Fires headlined the exact same festival. Needless to say, I've been in love with this band since. After having a number of teaser tracks to get me excited for a new supposed release of theirs, I wasn't expecting their newest album to arrive this suddenly. For long-time fans however, this album couldn't come soon enough, as Inflorescent is in-fact, their first album in eight years. As what many would consider to be a "newbie" in the world of Friendly Fires fandom, it would be difficult for me to compare this album to the likes of their older music. However, I disagree with what many reviewers

Slipknot, We Are Not Your Kind, Album Review

Slipknot We Are Not Your Kind Album Review Listen on Spotify Listen on Apple Music This has been an album that hasn't only just been highly anticipated since the beginning of 2019, but ever since it was announced. We Are Not Your Kind is the sixth studio album from one of the most exciting, unique and versatile metal bands of the 21st century; Slipknot. I have been in love with this band for a very long time, and to this day still praise their self-titled debut as one of the greatest albums to ever exist. Despite the 9 having a bit of a switch-up in terms of their members, as well as Slipknot having their edge blunted slightly with their fifth instalment, 2014's  .5: The Gray Chapter (which served more as a biter-sweet homage to original bassist Paul Gray, rather than a continuation of Slipknots signature aggression), This album was hyped up from its announcement to its release. The bands return to music after almost 5 years was heralded by the

Mujo, Hidden Forest, Album Review

Mujo Hidden Forest Album Review Listen on Spotify Listen on Apple Music It has been a fair while since my last album review, and as well as being super busy, there simply haven't been an awful lot of notable albums of late. However, I was lucky enough to come across a very talented and artsy musician, under the name of Mujo, while hunting for some stellar instrumental tunes to make work go more swimmingly. Mujo seems to be quite the productive sort, releasing a project every 6 months or so, and this latest project, Hidden Forest , is the first full record since my discovery of the artist. A litle bit more on Mujo as an artist; despite being labelled as a "hip-hop" artist by Apple Music, I'd argue that Mujo's instrumental tunes stray into more unique territory. While I can totally notice the Hip-hop aesthetic in which I could see these minimalist tunes being the production behind a Earl Sweatshirt project hypothetically, there are a
