BROCKHAMPTON, iridescence, Album Review

BROCKHAMPTON iridescence Album Review Lisen on Spotify After quite an eventful 2017, the worlds greatest boyband are back at it again with their latest studio album "iridescence". While last year gave us not one, not two but three musical projects from the group titled "Saturation (1-3)" the group seem to be taking a quality over quantity approach with this latest instalment. It's fair to say that the group had ran into some problems with one of the most notable members Ameer Vann who had quite a lot of involvement with the Saturation projects but had to leave the band due to issues with his private life. I would be lying if I said that his departure from the band hasn't effected this album's chemistry. In fact, iridescence feels a lot different to last years works. But the way I see it, the change is neither a negative or positive one. Its simply different and I will always be able to appreciate that. While I'm on th

Yves Tumor, Safe In The Hands of Love, Album Review

Yves Tumor Safe In The Hands of Love Album Review Listen on Spotify The way I discovered Yves Tumor (Sean L.Bowie)   was from a friend who recommended a single from the artist released this year titled "Noid". Ever since then, I had been excited to find out if there will be anything further from Yves Tumor  in 2018 and to my surprise, I somehow missed the release date of newest album from L.Bowie "Safe In The Hands of Love". This latest release is the third full-length album, following 2015's "When Man Fails You" and 2016's "Serpent Music". As someone who has newly discovered Yves Tumor , It is difficult to say how this album compare to the earlier works. However, I've heard that this album has gained a lot more commercial popularity and could quite possibly become the album to bring Yves Tumour  a giant leap forward. When focusing solely on the album itself and its musicality, I actually love the diversity

Noname, Room 25, Album Review

Noname Room 25 Album Review Listen on Spotify After the madness of a few weeks back, where new albums to review seemed to be coming from left, right and centre, It eventually became a bit more tricky to find newly released album. Thankfully however, I managed to find three new albums to review. The first of which I found thanks to the youtube album reviewer; Anthony Fantano (a.k.a. TheNeedleDrop ).  "Room 25" is the first studio album of female American rapper; Noname  following her mixtape titled "Telefone" released back in 2016. The way I felt about it with my initial listen was supposedly very similar to Buddy's "Harlan and Alondra" in the way that it felt very fresh and current while also being familiar in terms of lyrical flows. The album begins with this soulful melody marking the first track titled "Self". It feels like a very good choice of song to put first and showcases a lot of Noname's  cha

Paul McCartney, Egypt Station, Album Review

Paul McCartney Egypt Station Album Review Listen on Spotify Paul McCartney really doesn't need any introduction. The former Beatles member shows us all that he's still got it with his newest solo instalment; "Egypt Station".  I realised that this album had been released when I saw it advertised at my local HMV, and I couldn't help but be intrigued to listen to it. As a whole, the album has this very matured atmosphere in most of the tracks in which it would be hard to put it into any specific kind of genre but its nevertheless very enjoyable. It has a similar whimsical vibe as the Jake Shears album released last month, while also having the rock and roll characteristics found on Liam Gallaghers "As You Were". The album opens with a short intro titled "Opening Station". The only sort of significance I could imagine it having would perhaps be that it is a nod to when Paul used to be a choirboy, thanks to the growing

IDLES, Joy as as Act of Resistance, Album Review

Image
IDLES Joy as an Act of Resistance Album Review Listen on Spotify IDLES entered their way into the hearts of many with their debut album "Brutalism" that was released last year. However, I didn't really give the punk group much of a listen last year despite all the hype, only dabbling over a few tracks and just passing it off as ok without much of an afterthought. The hype certainly continued upon this albums release, and with more of an open-mindedness that I have acquired this year, I decided to give it a proper listen. I have to be honest, I can see what all the hype is about now. The album stays somewhat true to the rawness of "Brutalism", but they have certainly developed their sound into something much more refined. After dabbling over "Brutalism" again, I also noticed how with this album there is a lot more melody involved, which I think helps me ease my way into immersing myself into the album far better. There

REDUX: 2018 Album Reviews (January-August)

REDUX My Past Album Reviews From January-August Due to an unfortunate issue with my past blog, I have decided to celebrate the creation of my new blog with a quick recap on each of the albums that I have reviewed in the past spanning from the start of the year up to the end of August. So without further ado, lets get started! 1 Scallops Hotel Sovereign Nose Of Your Arrogant Face 1st January The very first album that I had the pleasure of listening to, "Sovereign Nose Of Your Arrogant Face" has a very quirky style and atmosphere unique to American rapper Milo (who in this effort goes under the alias of Scallops Hotel ). It has a very refreshing and current feel and the lower level of volume in the audio allows for a much more chilled listen. I was intrigued by this album from the very moment I first listened to "A Terror Way Beyond Falling" and later found out that there were many more amazing tracks ready to be listened to.
