Death Grips
Year of the Snitch
Mini Review
I'll admit that I actually enjoyed the previous record from Death Grips; "Bottomless Pit" a fair bit after it was released back in 2016. However, I was never quite sure as to why I left this album to the very last minute, but I think it might've been that it was released during a time where other great albums seemed to be coming in by the dozens. I never really found a good time to listen to it until recently.
This is definitely the type of album that requires you're full attention, but once you explore it properly, you will be rewarded with a one-of-a-kind experience that only Death Grips are able to provide. Thanks to the sheer amount of innovation in new music over recent years, I feel that this has allowed Death Grips to push the boat out even further to create their most surreal piece yet.
Favourite track: "Dilemma"
While every song on this album is unique in its own right, "Dilemma" stands out even more from the rest for how upbeat and even blissful it sounds. Its certainly one of the more melodic songs on the album and still harnesses that surreal feeling while also having a high level of enjoyability.
Thank you for reading.
